Welcome to Our New Offices

It’s early in 2020 and SEP (Site Engineering Personnel) Ltd was in the process of a management buyout. Six weeks later and the country went into lockdown. Yet, despite the challenges so many businesses have faced over the course of the last two years or so, SEP has gone from strength to strength, and now we can welcome you to new offices in Cambridgeshire and Gloucestershire, in addition to the Head Office in Lathom, Lancashire.

Originally established in 1986 as an engineering services provider, SEP has grown over the years to become a one-stop shop solution for its clients within the construction industry, providing on-site engineering services (SEP Engineers); technical expertise (SEP Technical); and a provider of the most up-to-date surveying equipment and technology (SEP Geospatial).

Since then, the company has evolved into a firm with more than seventy staff and an enviable reputation for delivering unrivalled customer support, pricing and logistics.

A Company in Growth

SEP initially operated out of premises on Sandy Lane in Skelmersdale, before moving to bigger premises on the Holland Park Business Estate as the firm grew. Even then, it was becoming abundantly clear that larger premises were going to be required to accommodate the growing team, and so, in January this year, the Sandy Lane property, the original SEP base, was sold.

Nowadays, the company occupies two units on the Holland Park Business Estate in Lathom, as well as having further offices in Skelmersdale, Huntingdon and Tewksbury. It’s been quite a ride.

Explains our Managing Director, Oliver Brooks; “I’m pretty sure that armed with a crystal ball, we’d have thought twice about taking on a company just before a global pandemic. But you play with the cards you’re dealt. We had a plan and we stuck to it. The team has been fantastic, and we’ve grown the company as planned. To say that we’re thrilled with where the company is today would be an understatement.

“Our aim was always to build an unparalleled level of customer service and support, and we’ve done just that. Our next steps are to expand our various business units as we look to grow our workforce in order to be able to offer further service capabilities.”

SEP Geospatial

SEP Geospatial is one of the fastest growing, independently owned survey equipment and services providers in the UK, and the sole Spectra Geospatial dealership in the country, selling and supporting the whole range of GNSS, GIS, Total Station, Field Controller and Software solutions.

As well as Spectra Geospatial, they also offer further supply and service capabilities for Trimble and Leica survey equipment, and in 2021 became a FARO laser scanning dealership, completing their geospatial portfolio.

Adds Mr. Brooks; “The company, and the industry, has seen a lot of changes over the last three decades or so, but our commitment to providing our clients with the best possible service remains.”

“While our core business still lies at the heart of the business, we’ve listened to our customers in order to be able to add the services they require. In short, our customer-first approach to business is at the heart of all we do.

“The team deserve a huge amount of credit. Not only have we been able to navigate our way through a pandemic, but we’ve come out in a fantastic position.

“The last two and a half years have been good. But we won’t rest on our laurels. We want the next few years to be even better. And we’ve certainly got the team in place to make that happen.”
