Why Choose the Trimble SPS 720?
One of the useful aspects of the Trimble total station range is that you can roughly determine the performance level of each product based on its number/name. For the SPS720, it’s a middle-of-the-range product, with measurement accuracy higher than the SPS 620 but slightly below that of the SPS 930.
All total station products in this series largely feature the same supporting technologies, such as MagDrive, AutoLock, MultiTrack and SurePoint, so speed and accuracy are more significant comparison points. Any SPS model, including the 720, is well-suited to challenging locations due to these automations and wireless connectivity.

The SPS 720 delivers exceptional user experience for smaller site operations, especially those working on load bearing structures. This robotic total station is accurate and reliable for site measurement, positioning, and stakeout.
Surveying uses
While the primary applications of the SPS 720 are rooted in the construction industry, this instrument can be used across projects where similar tasks are required. All our robotic total stations are priced for a quick return on investment.
Construction sites
Both the SPS 720 and SPS 620 total stations are highly accurate and reliable, delivering data that can be used for stakeout, positioning, and general measurement on construction sites. The SPS 720 combines seamlessly with GNSS systems to tackle surveying for larger construction sites.
Challenging terrain
The SPS 720 features a host of automated capabilities which enable surveyors to tackle even the harshest and most difficult locations. For instance, it automatically corrects mislevelments +/- 6”, immediately warning the operator if any mislevelments beyond this range occur during distance measurements. Features like this help surveyors improve consistency and prevent costly delays.
Its automated measurement of reflective targets enables surveyors to check whether or not construction activities could be affected by the movement of ground or buildings. This combines well with other monitoring equipment, such as tiltmeters and vibrometers.
