Many professionals often compare the Trimble R12/R12i to the Leica GS18, and for good reason – they both perform great. In the past, the R12 proved to be more reliable in difficult GNSS environments, although this has improved with Leica AP20 tilt compensation. It mainly comes down to how you prefer to go about surveying, as the R12 will shoot individual lines, whereas the GS18 will allow you to switch between multiple lines at once. Also, with Trimble products, you get unfettered access to their range of software, which is a big plus.
Pair the R12 with Trimble Access and any one of the TSC5 or TSC7 collectors, T10 or T10X tablets, and you have a complete rover solution. Add in Trimble Business Center, and surveyors of all experience levels can be confident in creating high-quality deliverables.
The R12 is designed to provide consistent surveying in conditions that would ordinarily prove difficult for systems, such as areas with groups of tall buildings. This solution supports the Trimble TSC7, T10, and T7 controllers, along with Android and iOS devices.
Surveying uses
This GNSS receiver can be combined with a wide range of controllers and S-series total stations to create a high-performance solution. The R12 is particularly well-suited for use in challenging surveying environments, where it helps reduce time in the field and the need for other equipment.
Surveying in Urban Settings
The R12 is ideal for surveyors working near tall structures, such as trees and buildings, thanks to its Trimble RTK and RTX positioning system and ProPoint technology. The latter is a fifth-generation positioning engine that provides precision data based on multiple GNSS signals. It also considers inertial measurement unit (IMU) data for even greater precision.
An important area to note when using the R12 is that, when using the topo point method, the ProPoint engine delivers a converging antenna phase center (APC) position solution. This enables gradual data quality improvement once the antenna is assumed to be stationary.
Furthermore, Trimble SurePoint technology in the R12 ensures responsive pole tilt compensation, meaning it can be used to great effect on sites with uneven surfaces. This is an essential feature for surveyors working on construction and civil engineering projects.

Delivery Policy
- Local deliveries will be made by our own fleet to addresses within 2-3 hours of our depots – this covers most of England and Wales.
- We’ll also deliver outside of the UK, using national couriers (UPS).
- Costs for delivery are depending on the weight and dimensions of the package.
- All packages are securely and safely packaged, typically using recycled packaging from our suppliers.
- If the item is in stock it will be delivered within 2-3 working days
- If an item is out of stock it will be delivered within 5-10 working days – any longer and we will contact you to advise and confirm a revised delivery date.

Refund Policy
- We hope you will be pleased with your purchase. Should you wish to return anything to us we will be happy to refund or exchange any goods returned to us unused, undamaged and fully resale able within 10 working days of receipt by the customer. The cost of returning any goods other than faulty goods is paid by the customer.
- The customer is liable for any goods returned to us that arrive damaged due to poor packing on the customers part.
- If goods are returned to us after 14 working days or not in a fully resale able condition, we reserve the right to refuse a refund or to deduct a 25% re-stocking charge.
